How a training diary took me past 620

- 10m Air Rifle
For two years my practice totals hovered around 610. I shot a lot, but I never wrote anything down, so every bad day felt random.
What I started logging
- Every series, not just the total. Patterns show up fast: my 5th series was always the weakest.
- One line on how I felt before the first shot: sleep, food, nerves.
- One thing to fix next time. Only one.
What changed
After six weeks the diary told me my problem wasn't technique at all. It was energy. I added a snack and a 5-minute break after 40 shots, and my last two series stopped dropping.
The diary doesn't shoot for you. It just stops you from repeating the same mistake for a month.
Three months later I shot my first 620+ in a match. Keep the notes short, keep them honest, and read them before every session.
